Medieval Architecture
Medieval architecture is similar to gothic architecture which includes the construction of gargoyles and stain glass windows. Medieval architecture is the building of castles, moats, draw bridges, stone walls, etc. Some medieval architects include Villard de Honnecourt, a Norman monk called Gundulf, and Henry Yeverley, this means they were the designers and builders of the castles in medieval times.
Castles were built for kings and queens as a fortress for protection.
The significant features of a castle include their stone walls, dungeons, large quantities of assorted rooms, draw bridges, and the throne room.
Early castles were constructed atop of mounds, but if they were constructed on flat land the had a moat dug around it. This design later stuck but was separate from the castle leaving the bailey in between.
Castles were popular during the medieval times which was a time of many kings, queens, and knights in shining armor. The first proper castles were constructed after the Norman conquest in 1066.
Castles were designed, built, and used in the Middle Ages for protection from many invaders. Not only were they for protection but they were also filled with weapons to fight back when attacked.

Alcazar of Segovia
Alcazar of Segovia is a castle in Spain built in the 11th century. It stands today, rebuilt and restored. It was built as a home for some of the many Spanish kings. The builder, King Alfonso VI started it all. Aside from being a home for the kings, it was also highly protective and kept the kings out of harms way, most of the time. This castle had a rather common purpose, like most others, protection. It is one of the most famous castles in Spain due to its royal lineage and beautiful exterior. The castle had been destroyed by a fire in 1862 but rebuilt in 1882 using sketches of the interior drawn before the castle was ruined, this makes it unique from others. It is not the original though it is a similar copy of the original. (I could not find images of the dwellers/builders)
