One particular activity that I found compelling was a sensory imagery exercise we participated in in order to strengthen our ability to visualize and produce our own descriptive writing, appealing to all senses.
The exercise consists of two groups: illustrators and describers. One member of each group is paired with one of the other group. The illustrators are given a blank sheet at paper and the describers are given a printed image. The two partners sit back to back as the describer gives a thorough description of what is on his or her image. The illustrator then uses the description to attempt in creating an accurate representation of the image in the describer's hand.
What I found very exciting about this assignment was the way that the two members had to work together in order to solve the task at hand. I had worked as an illustrator for this exercise though I hope we do this again in order to discover the similarities and differences between the difficulties of both jobs.
