Reflection
As explained in the article, people are sterotyped everyday, including in their work lives because sometimes applicants are chosen for the job based off of what people think they are capable of because of their appearence. This often happens in sexism as well, when the male is given the job because of his power and masculinity. These kind of sterotypes are very hurtful, both to people's self esteem and to their living stability.
If someone could not get a job because they were a Caucasian man as opposed to an African American one, then how would they make their income? How is one to support a family if they cannot get a job? It is always important to look beyond the color of someone's skin and to actually see what they are capable of.
Also seen in the video, people struggle with doing what they truly want to do since they are held back on what others want them to be. Jobs become the topic again as two young men try to become good at what they're expected to be and ignore what they want to be in order to persue that. They do this in order to not dissapoint their families. One way we could help those express who they truly want to be is to not hold them to any standard. If they know you expect something highly of them, then they'll be afraid to persue their true passion(s).
